Motifs of the Earth is a design studio working on ecological, useful products. We go through great lengths to use organic, natural and local raw materials to craft each product. We also make sure that the people we work with are happy doing the work and are paid fairly. The products we design are geared for people who like to be engaged with life and the environment. Right now, we make backpacks for travelers and gear bags for tools of people who like to work with their hands. These are made from organic cotton canvas, dyed and block printed using natural dyes and made to be simple and durable. And we keep them completely vegan. We collaborate with artisans from various parts of South India to create them. Words that describe us include sustainability, fair trade, bootstrapping, travelers, hard workers, sleepyheads, collaborators, earth lovers and honest.
MotE was started by Prajna Rajanna and Nandita Dhindsa. Prajna is an architect whose passion is working with artisans, especially when it involves natural dyes and block prints. Nandita is an illustrator who also likes to design useful products.
