Besides making many of my own sketch books over the last 2 decades, I have made thousands of hand-bound notebooks with single-sided used paper and corrugated board from used boxes, that have been distributed internationally. Recently, the same used corrugated board has become the base for my paintings. I currently divide my time between art and design and, in my daily life, also find ways to reuse and recycle objects around me. www.oyeroy.tumblr.com | www.instagram.com/eyeglew | www.royandarati.com
I was born in Kerala and grew up in Bangalore. After a degree in management, I studied graphic design at Srishti School of Design, Bangalore. Thereafter, I worked with a small design firm in Bangalore and then a large advertising agency in Colombo, Sri Lanka, before returning to Bangalore and partnering with my wife to set up our own design studio in 2007. My passion for the visual arts started in my childhood with my scrap-books filled with clippings from magazines and newspapers. These evolved into sketch books that documented personal observations and thoughts, chronicled various phases of my life and directly influenced my art and design practice. I'm interested in art as expression, nameless emotions, absurdity and recycling.
