We are an Accessory and Home Décor brand working extensively with Phulkari craft. The Brand was instituted in 2012, by Aakriti Ahuja, a design graduate from Symbiosis Institute of Design. ‘Asees’ means "Blessing" in Punjabi language and it is indeed a blessing to be born in a country with astounding textiles and crafts. The brand is based in Abohar, punjab and that allows us to explore the craft in best of its form. We at Asees intent to give a commercial angle to the craft, which was once used only for personal use, and accustom it in various product categories.
Phulkari is an age old technique of embellishing cloth with fine needle work. It was traditionally done by mothers for the trousseau for their daughters. Practiced in the state of Punjab and Haryana, Phulkari is characterized by the use of darn stitch on wrong side of fabric with vibrant colored silk threads and interwoven flower lattice pattern giving this craft its name Phul meaning Flower and Kari meaning work.
