Lakadong turmeric, derives its name from the place it is native of. The pristine Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya, blessed with cool weather, fertile soil and abundant rain enables the growth of a variety which has the world’s highest curcumin content. Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric not just lends its beautiful colour to the rhizome but is also responsible for its numerous medicinal properties, chiefly anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. The efficacy of lakadong turmeric as an anti- inflammatory and antiseptic agent is greatly enhanced owing to its high curcumin content.
